At Northoaks Primary School, we believe that technology can enrich learning and prepare our students to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
Aligned with MOE’s “Transforming Education through Technology” Masterplan 2030, our ICT programmes aim to develop students who are confident, responsible and discerning users of technology, while supporting teachers in using technology purposefully to enhance teaching and learning.
Our efforts focus on three key areas:
1. Promoting digital literacy
Students are given opportunities to build essential digital skills and use educational technology tools confidently and purposefully. Through platforms such as the Student Learning Space (SLS), they learn to access information, collaborate, create and take greater ownership of their learning.
2. Promoting Cyber Wellness and Responsible Digital Use
We equip students with the knowledge and habits needed to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. Students learn about appropriate online behaviour, cyber safety, digital well-being and how to protect themselves and others online.
3. Enhancing Teaching and Learning through Technology
Teachers continually develop their professional practice in the purposeful use of educational technology. Guided by sound pedagogical principles and the EdTech Pedagogical Scaffold, they design learning experiences that encourage active participation, collaboration, timely feedback and meaningful learning.
Through these efforts, we seek to nurture students who can learn confidently, use technology purposefully and navigate the digital world responsibly.

Student Learning Space
The Singapore Student Learning Space (SLS) is MOE’s national online learning platform and an important part of teaching and learning at Northoaks Primary School.
Through lessons designed by our teachers, students have access to curriculum-aligned resources and learning activities that allow them to learn at an appropriate pace and revisit concepts when needed. SLS also provides opportunities for students to participate actively, collaborate with their peers and receive timely feedback on their learning.
By using SLS meaningfully across different subjects, students develop greater ownership of their learning and strengthen important 21st Century Competencies, including self-directed learning, communication and collaboration.
Through these learning experiences, we hope to help students discover the joy of learning and develop the skills and dispositions needed to become responsible and future-ready learners.

Code for Fun Programme
As part of our efforts to develop students’ digital literacy and computational thinking, Primary 6 students participate in the Code for Fun Programme, supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA).
Through this enrichment programme, students gain hands-on experience in coding, digital making and computational thinking. They have opportunities to work with robotic kits and microcontrollers, apply problem-solving skills and explore emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.
These experiences encourage students to think creatively, experiment with ideas and develop greater confidence in using technology to solve problems.
Cyber Wellness
At Northoaks Primary School, Cyber Wellness is an important part of developing our students into safe, responsible and respectful digital users.
Students learn about appropriate online behaviour, responsible use of technology and ways to protect themselves in cyberspace. They are also encouraged to develop healthy habits and make thoughtful choices about their use of digital devices.
As part of our Cyber Wellness efforts, the school participates in initiatives such as Safer Internet Day, a global movement that promotes safer and more responsible use of online technology among children and young people.
Students also take part in activities that encourage them to reflect on their digital habits. For example, through our Screen-Free Weekend, students are encouraged to spend time away from their devices and participate in meaningful alternatives such as playing board games, reading, exercising or spending time outdoors with their families.
The school also works with community partners such as the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) to deepen students’ understanding of cyber safety. Through engaging assembly programmes and interactive activities, students learn practical cyber hygiene practices such as protecting their passwords, recognising online risks and making safe choices online.
Through these experiences, we aim to help every student develop the knowledge, values and habits needed to navigate the digital world with confidence and responsibility.
